The Martians in Your Classroom

People say that if we keep doing what we are doing, we will keep getting what we are getting. This is overly optimistic. At some point, what we were doing worked. The world has changed. The systems that worked well in education yesterday, worked well yesterday. The workplace of tomorrow is vastly different from what currently exists. How will globalization, the space race, and technological advances such as automation, virtual reality, and augmented reality impact the future world of work? Who are these Martians in our learning spaces? What is in store for them? How can you ensure that they are future fit? Join Rachael Mann on a journey to discover forecasted changes in the world around us and how educators can equip the Martians in our classrooms for careers that are out of this world and down to Earth.

The Culture Impact

What do kool-aid, yogurt, and Petri dishes have in common? They each hold clues for effective leadership in education. Discover how to create an environment that keeps your staff (and students) coming back for more.

Turning Ideas Worth Spreading Into Talks and Presentations

Educators are masters in their content area, but how much time is spent on learning to present ideas and content in a relevant way in which the audience members not only hear, but remember and act upon the information? Or the brain science behind presentations? This three-hour workshop will explore techniques based upon insights from the most popular TED Talks that can be applied in the classroom and shared with students to equip them for the public speaking portion of competitive events. Participants will leave with a toolkit of resources to use starting with day one of the new school year.

Equipping Students for Responsible Social Media Use

As our world becomes increasingly global, it is more important now than ever to train students to tap into virtual resources in a responsible manner to create their own personal, professional brand, as well as to market their ideas and products. This session will equip you with the tools you need to train students to establish a brand in order to stand apart from the masses and create a strong, online presence.

Competition Readiness

FBLA, HOSA, DECA, FCCLA, SkillsUSA, FFA, or EdRising- each CTSO requires different skill sets, but one common denominator between all CTSO’s is that public speaking and presentation skills count and may be the deal breaker between going home with a bronze medal or heading to the next level, national competitions. This session will provide advisors and teacher leaders the tools needed to equip students to succeed and advance.

(This presentation can be tailored to one group or delivered as an interdisciplinary session. I have judged for every CTSO with the exception of FFA and ironically, EdRising, but am well-versed in the EdRising events)
